Thermoelectric efficiency is a very important factor when thermoelectric materials are used in applications. The efficiency of a material is usually defined by a dimensionless parameter called ‘figure of merit’, denoted by ‘ZT’. It is expressed as

‘Best Thermoelectric Material’ should have a large Seebeck coefficient, high electrical conductivity, and low thermal conductivity.
